It all started when...

Theresa began her professional career in interior design in 2007, when she happily accepted her Bachelors degree in Interior Design from the University of Kentucky College of Design. After a two year apprenticeship under a 20 year certified Interior Designer, Theresa accepted her certification from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). With just one more certification in her sights, Theresa became LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Design accredited professional) in the spring of 2009.

Theresa began her professional career at Kathy Helm and Assocaites, a company known as an inspiration and guiding force in Healthcare Interior Design. Practicing under owner and lead designer Kathy Lagro, Theresa's professional vision was formed and influenced by Kathy's tailored style and comprehensive approach to interiors. She credits Kathy for teaching her not only her foundation of authentic tailored spaces, but for also teaching her how kindness and heart can have a very big part in a professional career.

As hard as it was to walk away from Kathy Helm & Associates, Theresa and her husband Michael moved to St Louis in 2010 to further Michael’s education. Theresa became a part of the Design Extra Studio team, being their point of contact for Healthcare and Senior Living projects. Design Extra was nestled into the historic neighborhood of Lafayette Square, just outside of downtown St Louis. Working on a handful of residential projects within the neighborhood sparked a love for old home restoration. This was not only her first step into residential design, but as a small developing firm it was her first deep experience in the running and developing of an Interior Design business. For every hour working with a client, Theresa learned there are plenty more hours needed to grow and stabilize a young business.

Once Michael grabbed his degrees, they headed back to their hometown of Louisville to start growing their dreams. Theresa started her own independent design practice, with the hopes of putting into practice all she has learned through her years of work, travel, and schooling. Theresa has a passion for helping create tailored personalized spaces, no matter the project. While strategic and focused, it is always important to find enjoyment throughout any project.

Design is a collaborative effort, and Theresa can not wait to start that process with you.

Both small business owners, Theresa and her husband Michael work together daily running their respective small businesses out of their building on Bardstown Road and raising their 3 babies together in the Highlands. It’s a wild crazy ride, but both feel blessed to be able to do what they love every day.
